ZER0 Waste Design

Zer0 is my research project for 2024.

ZER0 explores ways of eliminating fabric waste through zero waste design. I was shocked to see how much handwoven fabric would be wasted using a traditional pattern, in the case of a toile for a couture jacket it was 28%! Inspired by historical garments and contemporary researchers and designers in this space, here are some initial models that could be woven in one piece on the loom just using slits and pulled warp threads with zero waste and minimal cutting/sewing off loom.
