Today is the 60th anniversary of the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama
The bombing of the church as children were preparing for Sunday School killed four young girls: Addie May Collins, Denise McNair, Carole Robertson and Cynthia Wesley. Welsh Artist John Petts lead a campaign in Wales to donate a replacement stained glass window for the rebuilt church which has created a bond of friendship between Birmingham, Alabama and the Welsh people that endures today.

The Wales Window project was inspired by the story and this panel, 'we honour your names' was handwoven using a cypher to encode each of the girls names into a unique pattern.
